Wednesday, October 3 West Point

The hotel is very comfortable and centrally located for what we want to do today so we sign in for another night and Dick goes to get our rental car. After breakfast we head down to West Point. It is about a two hour drive on the toll way. We get there in time for the 1PM tour, but for some reason that doesn’t appeal to Dick so we send about 90 minutes exploring the nice visitors center and great museum.

We then drive across the Hudson and explore Coldspring

where we have a big lunch in a pub and go to Garrisons Landing where we get a great view across the Hudson at the ramparts and buildings of West Point.

This side of the Hudson has some beautiful old homes and we find a great old church dating back to the late 1700's near Garrisons landing.
The day has been a little over cast and there hasn’t been as much color as we saw yesterday. It is almost 6PM by the time we get back to the hotel. We are tired and decide to get a take out pizza. We watch the late night news to see what the weather prediction for tomorrow. It has been over cast and cool today and was raining lightly by the time we got back to the hotel. Heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow. Our original plan was to drive back North then cut across the Adirondacks for more Fall color. The rain cancels that drive and we decide to head south tomorrow.
